Speaking during an interview, Davido said Wande Coal had been trying to get his attention and even asked for his phone number about two weeks ago, but claimed he instructed that his number should not be given to him.
“He’s been looking for my attention for some reason. I don’t know. He even asked for my number two weeks ago and I told him not to give him,” Davido said.
The singer described Wande Coal as “acting like a baby” but said he believed the singer would be fine.
“He’ll be fine. He has somebody to take care of him. Anyway, I didn’t even say nothing bad,” Davido added.
Davido maintained that his comments about their unreleased song were not intended as an attack on Wande Coal.
He explained that he only stated that he had not recorded his verse for “Come My Way” as a remix, while acknowledging that the collaboration could have turned out well.
“I just said, yeah, I didn’t record the song as a remix. And he wanted to drop it as a remix. So I was like, no, I don’t want us to do that,” he said.
Davido also suggested that his comments had been exaggerated by people within the music industry who, according to him, were quick to interpret his remarks negatively.
“I was even like, but it would have been nice. That’s how I ended it. But you know the whole industry, they always rush to get to David,” he said.
He further acknowledged Wande Coal as one of the artistes he admired while growing up.
“I’ve known Wande. Wande was one of the artists I was, you know, growing up, looked up to,” he said.
However, when asked about Wizkid during the interview, Davido declined to respond.
“What about Wizkid?” the reporter asked.
Davido replied: “I don’t want to answer that question.”
The brief exchange comes amid the ongoing public back-and-forth between Davido and Wande Coal over the unreleased collaboration.
